Mr. Chairperson,

We take the floor to reiterate Ukraine’s unwavering support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders.

Ukraine strongly condemns the holding and does not recognize the results of so-called parliamentary elections in the Russia-occupied territory of the Tskhinvali region of Georgia, which took place on June 9, 2019.

We consider this step as another attempt by Russia and its occupation regime to legitimize the situation in this occupied territory of Georgia, including as a result of "ethnic cleansing" and numerous other systematic gross violations of human rights.

Ukraine welcomes the peaceful steps taken by the Government of Georgia to see de-occupation of parts of its territory, including those on the basis of its initiative "A Step towards a Better Future".
