Continuous high-level dialogue will facilitate the effective development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Russia, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin.
The President expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will be developing at the level of legislative bodies. "There is no doubt that we will create an atmosphere of friendship and understanding between the two parliaments," said Viktor Yanukovych. He, moreover, congratulated Sergey Naryshkin’s election as State Duma Chairman and wished him success in his work.
For his part, Sergey Naryshkin thanked for the opportunity to visit Ukraine, adding that it was the first visit that he made as Chairman of the State Duma. "I hope that this visit will be productive, effective, especially given the fact that the rich active political dialogue between the leaders of our countries gave a good impetus for cooperation in all spheres – economic, humanitarian, political," he said.
"We would be glad if our inter-parliamentary cooperation and dialogue helped to strengthen our contacts and cooperation in all directions. We are commited to active and effective work," Sergey Naryshkin said.
