Delivered by Ambassador Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna, to the 1279th meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, 3 September 2020
Mr. Chairperson,
Recently the Government of Germany released the proof of traces of “novichok” chemical nerve agent in the tests of the Russian opposition politician Aleksey Navalny.
We strongly condemn yet another criminal act of the Russia’s authorities, which keep attacking the democracy and human rights in Russia and abroad.
We are convinced that the international community must respond adequately to this inhumane act by the Kremlin against the opposition politician.
Only unanimous resolute stance and firm condemnation by the civilized world, including through the sanctions, can force the Russian Government to stop committing crimes, brutally violating the human rights and destroying the legal foundations of the international order for both leading opposition politicians as well as entire countries.
Thank you, Mr. Chairperson.
