Petro Poroshenko informed on the developments in Donbas, implementation of the Minsk agreements and outlined his vision of the strategy of de-occupation of Crimea.
The parties discussed the activity of the OSCE SMM and the need to enhance the operational work of the Mission. Petro Poroshenko asked the Secretary General to facilitate the provision of new technical equipment to the SMM. They also stressed the importance of full and unhindered access of the OSCE SMM to the entire temporarily occupied territory of Donbas, including the uncontrolled area of the Ukraine-Russia border.
The parties coordinated approaches to the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission throughout the occupied Donbas. Petro Poroshenko emphasized the importance of establishing an intensive dialogue between the OSCE and the UN as regards the given issue.
The President urged the Secretary General to involve all possible mechanisms of the Organization to liberate the Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia and Crimea, as well as the hostages held in Donbas by the Russian invaders.
The OSCE Secretary General praised the appointment of Ukraine’s special representative on the Transnistrian settlement.
